Financial Aid Application

There are numerous federal financial aid options for students at the post-secondary level. For all college students, searching for federal financial aid for college should begin with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you need financial aid in the form of federal loans, you simply must complete the FAFSA.

Once students are accepted to a college or university, they should begin the application process via the FAFSA website. Students will need:

  • A valid social security number
  • A driver's license (if the student has one)
  • Their parents' or spouse's tax returns
  • W-2 form and any other record of money earned
  • Bank statement, mortgage information, and all financial information from the previous year
  • Alien registration cards or permanent resident cards

The FAFSA is not difficult to complete so don’t feel overwhelmed. It is a fairly straightforward application and once you and/or your parents complete their tax returns, the FAFSA is quite simple.

After all the information has been gathered, students should apply for a federal student pin number, check their federal financial aid eligibility and double check all federal and school deadlines.
